Last week, I shared a photo on the Rewriting Rory social media platforms from Rory’s concert at Club Bene in Sayreville, which took place on 28 March 1991. This was one of the final dates of his US tour – what would end up being his final tour of the country. Our trusty Rob Phaneuf got in touch to say that he had an interview in his collection, which was recorded on the same day as the concert. He very kindly passed it over to me and I am delighted to share it with you all today.
The 45-minute interview was conducted by Richard Skelly of Rutgers University’s Low Budget Blues Program. It is a fantastic interview where Rory sounds unusually relaxed and shares such wonderful insights into the early years of his career, the Muddy Waters sessions, his songwriting process, the Rolling Stones jam in Rotterdam and so much more! Enjoy!
