| Rocks, 25th January 1999 A short account of Rory’s life by Miguel de Santos for the Spanish magazine Rocks, published three and a half years after Rory’s untimely death. The article is dubious in places, claiming that Rory did nothing between Photo Finish and Fresh Evidence and that he was losing spontaneity in his music and was far from his best musically. | La Realidad, 19th November 2001 A really nice piece on Rory by Juan Carlos Zubizarreta for the Spanish weekly La Realidad. Zubizarreta highlights what makes Rory the greatest guitarist in the world for him and why his music stands out from all the rest. |
| Ruta 66, 2002 This article by Jose Carlos Sisto for the Spanish magazine Ruta 66 has potential, but falls into the usual trap of claiming that Rory did nothing after Stage Struck and that his artistic creativity decreased. It is a shame because the other parts of the piece are quite good and offer a good summary of what made Rory such a great musician. | Paris-Move, May 2011 An excellent interview with Rory’s brother Dónal by Frenchy for Parisian music site Paris-Move that candidly covers a wide range of topics, from the Notes from San Francisco album, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and The Commitments to their childhood, Rory’s complex personality, health problems and untimely death. |

It is very interesting and covers Matsumi’s memories of both Rory and Dónal, as well as her experiences of running the Japanese branch of the Rory Gallagher fan club. | This is Rock, October 2022 A brilliant article to mark the release of Deuce 50th anniversary edition. It contains a fair deal of factual inaccuracies though and chooses to focus heavily on the 1970s, which defeats the object of promoting an album from 1990! | Lust for Life (1), October 2023 This is a great interview with Dónal Gallagher from Dutch magazine Lust for Life. Journalist Caya Forman interviewed Dónal at his home in Ballycotton and talked largely on the 50th anniversary of Tattoo. Dónal shares some great insights about many of the songs on the album. |

It begins with the hackneyed Hendrix ‘quote’ and continues with a number of other recycled quotes from Slash, Johnny Marr, Elton John and Brian May. | Popular 1, January 2024 A retrospective by Toni De Lola to mark the 50th anniversary of Irish Tour ’74. The piece is surprisingly sensitive to Rory’s mental health struggles and offers a good general overview of his career, although it falls down in its assessment of the 1980s and 1990s (as is often the case!). |
| El País, July 2024 A nice article by Ricardo de Querol to mark the 50th anniversary of Irish Tour ’74, focused on how Rory united the Protestant and Catholic communities of Belfast with his music during the Troubles. | Buscadero, December 2024 A really nice 8-page spread by Mauro Zambellini and Marco Denti on the new Rory at the BBC boxset. A few factual errors aside, it also provides a great overview of Rory’s career and why he means so much as an artist. |
