The Old Irish Heart Rory Gallagher (Disco Exprés, November 1984)
A rather nasty article in the Spanish music press that tries to portray Rory as “old”, his music as no longer relevant and his live performances as no longer interesting. Rory is his usual polite self and gives interesting answers in the interview, however. This piece of shoddy journalism is exactly the reason why we set up Rewriting Rory.
Rory Gallagher: The Man Keeps Getting Younger! (Soundi, July 1984)
A really nice interview with Rory from Finnish music magazine Soundi, conducted by Waldemar Wallenius. Wallenius was unfamiliar with Rory’s music and was called in at short notice to conduct the interview. Perhaps because of this, he bucks many of the typical press narratives of the time that focused on Rory’s age and weight and, instead, highlights Rory’s perennial youthfulness and energy
