“I saw Rory many times and bought tickets in the front row of the circle in the middle so that I could see everything. In 1987 when Defender was released, I went along with my sister and we decided to get tickets in the front row stalls. We were off to the right. About three quarters of the way through, he jumped off the stage and landed right at my feet. I jumped back and just glowered at him. He held his hand out to shake my hand and I just looked at him as if to say ‘what the hell are you doing!!!!!’ He just laughed and moved along the row shaking hands. However, he looked back in time to see my sister nudging me and saying ‘what did you do that for?’ I started laughing and said ‘well, he gave me a fright!!!’ He obviously clocked that. He got back on stage and when he started again, he came over to where I was and beamed a big smile at me. That engagement of eyes still lives with me. Probably had never had a female looking as if she might thump him! Still think he is the greatest thing to have hit earth.”
